Mia's journey began in rural South Carolina. After graduating college and law school, she worked in the executive branch of government for Republican Attorney General Charlie Condon and Democrat Governor Jim Hodges. In 2003, she founded McLeod Butler, a public affairs and political navigation firm. Later, she was elected to the SC Legislature, where she proudly served in the SC House of Representatives for six years and the SC Senate for eight. Along the way, she faced immense personal, professional and political challenges. Yet, her faith gave her the fortitude to persevere and prevail. In spite of the setbacks, she has continued to lead with courage, authenticity and connection-earning global recognition for her trailblazing accomplishments and creating a leadership legacy that continues to inspire and empower women leaders to rise and lead boldly…with tenacity, resilience and impact.
